Mariah C. Stember is a scholar, writer and a teacher.  She earned her PhD from the University of Kansas (KU) in the Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies.  As a gender scholar, she focuses on women and conflict in the southern Africa region.  Stember co-edited a book entitled African Women and their Network of Support: Intervening Connections from Lexington Press (2021).  Her work has been supported by the Fulbright Program, the International Institute of Education, the U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowship program, the KU Hall Center for the Humanities, the KU Dean’s Office, and the KU Office of International Programs, among others.  In addition to her studies at KU, Stember earned an M.A. in Public Policy and International Development Management from the University of Washington and a B.A. in German and Management from St. Olaf College.
